Dance

This shot was in the studio with controlled lighting. So the challenge is timing. You have to try to anticipate the peak. This was a lucky one shot take. This is also my daughter.

Lilies

While on a road trip we stopped a an old church and these were growing in their flower bed.
I took only a few shots kind of in a hurry and I am glad I got this one. This is one of those cases where you do not realize what you have till you start going over what you shot for the day.

Eerie Clouds

While taking the trash out tonight I noticed a very eerie light and then looked to the west. This was right before sunset.

Runway 25

Had a chance to walk on the Runway at the Jacksonville International Airport and thank goodness I had my little Lumix Camera with me. This almost looks like I am landing at a high speed because of the black skid marks on the runway.

Shapes

While walking in St. Augustine I came across this door that caught my eye because of it being so high up. Then looking through the viewfinder I saw all the shapes in a very simple uncluttered way. I only cropped about one inch from the left side for a better composition. I like the two smudges next to the door where they have to put their hand and pull the door open and step up.

Sunrise over the Atlantic

Shot this sunrise along Hecksher Road. First time to use a split neutral density filter. Worked pretty well. The upper half is a number 2 ND.. this requires little to no Post processing. All I did was lighten up the foreground and sharpened it a little.

The Dive

This was taken many years ago. I was using film at the time. Slow shutter speed and a steady hand. I really cannot remember if I used a tripod or not (had to). Other wise I did have a steady hand.

Fisherman

This is a great example of being ready and having your exposure set.  With this picture I was driving down Heckscher Road in Jacksonville and when I saw him I pulled off of the road and I jumped out of my car. This is the only picture I was able to take. Soon as I took this one he turned around and walked in.  When ever you are out making photos always have your camera set for a quick shot. If you are using manual preset everything for the brightest exposure then all you have to do is make a quick adjustment if your shot is in the shade.  This is also a great time to leave your camera on the "P" setting.

While eating lunch I looked up and saw this. It was quite dark and was a slow shutter speed.  The shadows caused this bluish cast on the picture. I liked the colors so I did not try to correct it. This is why I try to always  carry a camera with me. I mostly use a Canon G9 if I am unable to carry my larger camera.  Always be looking for that shot no one else would see.  This a great way to develop your eye.

I like this image because of the simplicity of it. I was at the Atlantic Ocean taking pictures of surfers with parachutes and I looked to my left and saw this tranquil scene. I like the clouds because the seem to balance the lower left rocks and dark area. The colors are very peaceful as well.

This was taken back in the film days. My friend and I were camping and I woke up in the tent and saw him and his dog outside of the tent, grabbed my camera as fast as I could. Since it was film I only took one shot. I still  try to do that today with digital. I do not believe in shooting as fast as you can and hope to get one good one. I believe that ruins your creative eye. Now there are times for rapid shooting but not often.

I hope to be posting photos with my comments in the days to come. Feel free to comment yourself.
Well I have been gone for quiet some time. I know no one is looking at this but it is practice.
